KEEPING HISTORY ALIVE©

Welcome. You have entered the virtual world of 'Raiders of the Deep®" where we relive World War II as a U-boat Kommandant. We are a long term, single player campaign open to all players of the PC games Silent Hunter II and Silent Hunter III that allows them to interact with a community outside of the familiar missions of the basic game.

We at Raiders of the Deep® set our goal to make Silent Hunter II the most historically
accurate online game that we can. We have researched each mission to be as accurate as possible within the parameters of the program. Each war patrol that you will be sent on has gone through months of research to place the Boats where they were at that time frame. One more thing, this is not a tonnage campaign, this is a historic campaign and as such, the shipping lanes are set to what the real U-boats would have seen. So, hopefully you will see what it was really like to be a U-boot Captain. We must never forget the
past, but remember it for future generations, so we don't make the same mistakes.
Now with that said....

Come. Let me show you around our establishment.

This dockside building (Zum Dienst melden in Am Hafen) is where new members report. Here they are given the Equipment list, ROE, New Officer's Handbook and Information and Guidelines that are needed to be an active participant within the Raiders' community.

The 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th , 7th and 9th Flotillas are based here at Kiel, and the 2nd Flotilla is based at Wilhelmshaven. SHIII players are assigned to Flotillas 1, 2,or 7; SHII players to Flotillas 1 to 7, and the 9 th Flotilla is for the Administration Team. Along the shoreline you can see each Flotillas' Headquarters.

The large building is 'Unterseebootwaffe Headquarters", and houses the departments of ‘Mission Orders', ‘Communications', ‘Captains Logs', and 'Awards and Promotions' . In the entrance hall you can see our Wall of Honour commemorating fellow officers who were killed in action. It is also from here the BdU keeps us up-to-date with news of the war in 'News from Berlin' .

This smaller building to one side is the Personnel Department, where the roster of all players is kept.

We've arrived at the Officer's Club. Come inside. As you can see, many Captains utilise this facility to relax, socialise and tell their patrol stories, as well as to discuss issues common to all flotillas. There are also many discussions on topics of general interest. Over here we have a notice board displaying the Kapitan of the Month . Members are encouraged to research ‘their' Commander, and display the information on this noticeboard for others to read.

Another place in which the Captains and their crews socialise and relax is Zur Seerose, a pleasant Hofbrauhaus situated a couple of miles away. A couple, and their four delightful daughters, run it. You are always welcome there.

If you look through this window, you will see an odd shaped collection of buildings. That is Johann's Lab, the place to go for all help and information of a technical nature. If you are lucky, you will meet his luscious assistant, Heidi. Click on Heidi, and let her show you around the lab. Here also you can find Links to other websites

And last but not least, is a tribute to the U-boats that were lost at sea, and to all that lost their lives in this great conflict.

If you would like to join our community, then go to our Enlistment page , pick a name from the list and register at the forum, using the real WWII U-boat commander's name that you have choosen and a valid e-mail address. It's as easy as that.

We look forward to meeting you again, as a member of our community.
